Ingredients

  • cup butter at room temperature
  • 3 ounces / 85 grams of cream cheese at room temperature
  • ¾ cup of sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 2 teaspoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon of anise seed
  • 1-¼ cup flour
  • ¼ cup cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup guava jam

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, cream butter, cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, orange juice and extract with an electric mixer.
  • Add the two kinds of flour, anise seed, salt, and baking powder. Mix with a wooden ladle until everything is mixed. Keep the dough in the refrigerator for 2 hours or overnight.
  • Heat the oven to 190 ° C / 375 ° F and grease a baking sheet.
  • With the help of a spoon, shape dough into 1 inch / 4 cm balls and arrange on baking sheet, leaving about 3 inches between cookies.
  • Flour the end of a wooden ladle and make a well in the center of each cookie. Fill the cookies with guava jam.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, or until the edges start to brown. Cool cookies on baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
