Would you like to have a freshly made piece of cake without all the baking? this double chocolate oat mug cake it´s just that! easy, delicious and spongy. A very dangerous recipe to have on hand!

I've been wanting to try these famous mug cakes for years. I think inside of me I knew it was dangerous. You can mix it and cook it in no time! hard to find an excuse for not eating cake every day 😉

This delicious recipe comes from Montse blogging at no sin mi taper (not without my Tupperware). She has a long list of yummy dessert recipes. So I grabbed this oatmeal and chocolate mug cake to share it here and with it participate alongside a group of Spanish speaking bloggers in a cooking challenge where we try to steal recipes from Montse this month without her knowing and then share it with everybody.

Double chocolate oat mug cake

I made these mug cakes with my 3 boys, we all loved it! The first time we made one recipe, but our mug was too big and her recipe that was for 2 mugs, made only one of ours. So we tried again and this time we doubled the recipe and got 2 big mugs. Delicious! light in texture, moist and very chocolaty.

Double chocolate oat mug cake

The recipe calls for oat flour, I didn´t have any so I just blended some oats and got my flour. As I said before, I doubled the recipe to get 2 big mugs and increased the cooking time.
After the first bite, my mind was already scheming all the other flavors we're going to add in the future.

Enjoy a piece of cake every day! 🙂

I've encountered the same problem before. Personally, I don't think it tastes like egg.

I just made this and there is no eggy taste. Slightly dry but my microwave is known for its fierceness lol.

😆 yeah. At least you know your microwave.
I'm glad you liked it. Next time, many 10 seconds less.

Thank you for the quick reply. After reading it and making sure I had the appropriate size, I made them. At a minute-fifteen, they were over cooked, had only risen to about 8oz. and pulled away from the sides. Of course, I ate it, but there were hard spots and overall not moist. 🙁

So sorry Denise! I know every microwave works/cooks a little bit different. I made that recipe when I was in Paraguay, and that was the time I used. I'm in the US right now, and like you said, that time was too long for mine. I'm still trying to figure out the time for my new microwave.
What if you start with 40 or 50 seconds? and check.
        Sorry again it didn't work.

I just looked at your pre-cooking filled mug, your batter looks more fluid than mine, which was more the consistency of a typical brownie batter.

I know flour absorbs different with different brands and countries. I never thought that maybe oat flour would do the same? maybe add 1 teaspoon milk next time.

Kick ass recipe. I had substituted milk with coconut 🥥 milk as I am diary free. In fact I had to use milk made from coconut milk powder to make the milk. Did not feel it one bit. My husband did not even realise that I had sneaked in healthy oats into the cake. 👌🏼

I'm so glad it turned out great with coconut milk. Yeah, these days is hard to find simple ingredients and we end up making it ourselves!

One of the best mug cakes I've ever tried! Moist and delicious. I made some substitutions based on the ingredients I had on hand: maple syrup instead of sugar and olive oil instead of vegetable oil. Same measurements. Try it. You won't regret it!

This recipe wasn’t good for me, it came out messed up and the calories are higher than what’s listed here.

Just tried it, very delicious! Easily made gluten free by using gluten free oats. I didn't have vegetable oil so I used butter instead. Will definitely make these again!
