Torta de manzanas y dulce de leche / Dulce de leche apple cake

La primera vez que comí ésta torta, fue en la casa de mi amiga Amy McKissick. Ella la sirvió caliente, recién salida del horno y era para chuparse los dedos. La receta original pide caramelos de leche, pero como en Paraguay abunda el dulce de leche y es mucho más rápido que estar desenvolviendo caramelos, usamos eso en ésta receta. Un postre super rico para éste invierno.

The first time I tried this cake, was at my friend Amy McKissick´s house. She
served it hot, just out of the oven and it was mouth-watering good. The original recipe calls for caramels, but since there is so much “dulce de leche” in Paraguay and it´s a lot easier than unwrapping caramels, we used dulce de leche in this recipe. This is a very delicious dessert for this cold winter.
1 paquete de torta de vainilla de 480 gr
1 paquete de budín de vainilla de 85 gr/3.4 oz (para 4 porciones)
1 taza de agua
4 huevos
⅓ taza de aceite
3 manzanas verdes, peladas y cortadas en cuadros chicos
¾ taza de dulce de leche o 20 caramelos de leche
3 cucharas de leche
1 pkg. (2-layer size-480 gr) yellow cake mix
1 pkg. (3.4 oz-85 gr) JELL-O Vanilla or French Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1 cup water
4 eggs
⅓ cup oil
3 Granny Smith apples (1 lb.), peeled, coarsely chopped
¾ cup dulce de leche or 20 KRAFT Caramels
3 Tbsp. milk
Calentar el horno a 350 F / 175 C.
Heat oven to 350ºF / 175 C.
Batir con una batidora eléctrica los primeros 5 ingredientes.
Beat first 5 ingredients in large bowl with mixer until well blended. 
Mezclar las manzanas picadas a la masa.
Stir in apples. 
Poner la masa en una budinera engrasada y enharinada o en otra fuente donde entre toda la masa.
Pour into a greased and floured 12-cup fluted tube pan or 10-inch tube pan.

 
 Hornear por 50 minutos o hasta que al poner un cuchillo en el centro, salga limpio.
Bake 50 min. to 1 hour or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. 

Enfriar un poco la torta en el molde por 15 minutos. Desmoldar y dejar enfriar en una rejilla o derramar el dulce de leche y servir mientras sigue caliente.

Cool cake in pan 15 min. Invert onto wire rack. Cool cake completely or pour dulce de leche (caramel sauce) and serve while hot.

En una fuente para microondas, poner el dulce de leche o los caramelos y las 3 cucharas de leche y cocinar por 1 ½ minutos o hasta que se derritan completamente y se obtenga una salsa, batiendo cada 30 segundos. Derramar sobre la torta. (o hacerlo en una ollita como yo lo hice)

Microwave caramels and milk in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1-½ min. or until caramels are completely melted and sauce is smooth, stirring every 30 sec. Drizzle over cake. (or make it in a pan over the stove like I did it)
